OUR SERVICES

We offer full midwifery care from conception through to a month after your baby is born.  We also offer antenatal or postnatal packages, intensive breastfeeding support and tongue tie division.

Antenatal care
  • Care starts at the booking visit.  This appointment normally takes approx 1.5 - 2 hours and we fill in your antenatal notes and take time to discuss issues such as healthy eating and screening options.  We also take your personal, medical and social history.
  • Each subsequent antenatal visit lasts approx 1 hour and gives us the opportunity to build a trusting relationship, as well as monitor the progress of your pregnancy.
  • We are able to spend as much time as needed talking about your hopes and fears and de-briefing any previous birth experiences.
  • An extended birth preparation session at around 36 weeks gives you and your birth partner an opportunity to discuss your birth options, what to expect from labour and birth, your preferences in a variety of circumstances plus how to prepare for the postnatal period.

Postnatal care
  • We provide frequent visits in the first week, helping you to establish breastfeeding and helping you to gain confidence in caring for your newborn.
  • After the first week, visits becomes less frequent but we are still available for advice and support on the phone in between appointments.
  • We can perform the newborn blood spot test (NBBS), can weigh your baby and arrange for a private newborn examination (NIPE) for an additional charge if requested.  Otherwise we can arrange the NIPE with the local NHS services.
  • We believe that postnatal care should be flexible and you will be able to guide us as to how much or how little input you require.
  • We can liaise with other health professionals such as health visitors and GP's during this time.
  • We discharge you from our care when your baby is around a month old.
